Mist Eliminators for EDM

by Ira Golden

Electric Discharge Machining mist and smoke is best treated with electrostatic precipitator type mist eliminators.  A possible second choice may be media based oil mist collectors.  The process creates light pollution requiring low airflow, generally under 1000 CFM.  But since the EDM machines typically run unattended for long shifts, high capacity and consistent efficiency is most beneficial.  As an added benefit, your expensive dielectric fluids mist can be captured and reclaimed as it continuously drains from the coolant mist eliminator.
