Donaldson Torit Mist EliminatorsDonaldson is a global supplier of air filtration media and makes a full line of air filter media based mist eliminators and other branded Donaldson air cleaners. Since buying out Aercology, Donaldson Filter Systems broadened its mechanical media line of oil mist eliminators and has added centrifugal separators as well. Read Review
Donaldson Torit Media and Centrifugal Mist Eliminatorsby James Lee, Industrial Designer Donaldson Torit provides mechanical media based oil mist eliminators including direct machine mount, vertical modular, horizontal modular, or central systems plus a compact direct mountable centrifugal separator. Most of these mist eliminatorstorstorstorstorstorstorstors seem pretty typical of what you will find with any other industrial mist eliminator manufacturer. Donaldson's main focus is making media filters for uses all over the world. After having taken over Aercology's mist eliminators, anything that doesn't use media has been dropped. Aercology, a company that was once focused on industrial air cleaning has become Donaldson's distribution channel for industrial media filters. One interesting product Donaldson offers, is the Mini-Mist Collector designed for light duty CNC machining, grinding, turning, milling and drilling. Single machine mist eliminators are popping up all over. Donaldson's is a very light duty, direct mount media based smoke and mist eliminator. Using media filtration allows this oil mist eliminator to operate on a wide variety of applications. Adapting mechanical media filters for use in different vertical markets seems to be one of Donaldson's strengths.
Mechanical media
filtration is a simple concept, a box with a fan
blowing air through a series of woven media filters. A minihelic gage senses air pressure before and after the filter,
giving you an indication of when to change the filter. Media
filtration can be used for mist, smoke dust, fumes, vapors and odors
from a variety of wet or dry machining operations like
grinding, rubber machining die casting or soldering.
Unfortunately, media filters must be discarded and replaced once fully used,
making it an expensive option. Also, results are not
consistent because airflow slowly weakens as the filter goes from
clean to clogged throughout its useful life. Due to restricted
airflow, media filters need a high powered fan that must keep up
with the gradually increasing static pressure. In most
applications, it is less expensive to maintain and more efficient to use an
electrostatic precipitator. The media based Mini Mist would be a
good all purpose, coolant mist eliminator for the
owner of a very small shop with very light
mist & smoke pollution who would prefer paying for occasional filter
replacement instead of performing occasional precipitator cell
cleaning. |
