Aget Mistkop® Unique Mist Collector Design

by James Lee, Industrial Designer

To my observation, the Aget coolant fluid mist eliminators have an unusual component configuration.  The pathway that air follows, enters the unit at the blower.  Oil mist and contamination passes through the blower mechanism and then continues into the media filtration section.  Air is pushed through the media, leaving fluid and contamination in the filter.

Centrifugal separators use a similar concept where the oil mist is sucked through the spinning blower chamber and then filtered as droplets are thrown to the outside.  Yet the Aget MistKop solution is an improvement on centrifugal separation because the filter does not spin.  Fewer contamination covered spinning parts lowers the likelihood of balance issues.

The solution used by most other media based mist eliminator systems, is to locate the blower behind mist filtration, so only filtered air contacts fan mechanisms.  Keeping the fan or blower clean and running smoothly can be very imported for direct mount mist eliminators when it comes to maintenance and vibration.
